Kamora Freeland remains the bar of #blackeex cells elevated. First, the 17-year-old last year wrote history by becoming the youngest African-American woman who earned a private pilot permit. Now she is doing it all over again, but this time she skips her first year at the university and becomes a second -year student at Spelman.

“Starting the university as a second -year student has been a whirlwind of emotions – losing, overwhelming and all liberating at the same time,” Freeland told the Advance/Silive.com about attending the prestigious HBCU in a recent interview.

“It is as if you enter a whole new world where you find out who you are, balances independence and navigate friendships, academics and studies sessions in the evening.”

In addition to her many awards, Freeland is also a birth -doula and lifeguard; However, her passion is without a doubt a pilot.

“I love flying, and I have a passion for it,” said Freeland last year in response to obtaining her pilot permit as the youngest African female woman to do this. “Plus, pilots can yield up to $ 700,000, so that also caught my attention. The next step is to become a commercial pilot of airlines. ‘

Yet Freeland did not start to become a pilot, in reality the talented young woman originally wanted to pursue a career in marine biology, but that changed after her first flight lesson in 2021 at the age of 15.

“I never wanted to be a pilot, but after my first flight I had something like: ‘Wow! I could do this for a living. ” ‘

Lakema Freeland, Freeland’s mother, said in the same Advance/Silive.com interview that seeing her daughter as a second -year student is really a “bittersweet moment”.

“I am so proud of her because she has taken that big step, but my heart hurts that the house is a bit quieter without her laughter. It is a mix of excitement for her future and the desire to hold on to the moments we have shared. “

We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this incredibly talented young woman. There is no doubt that heaven is not the limit for her.
