The Pistons lost from the Timberwolves on Sunday 123-104. However, the biggest head that came out of the game was the fight in the second quarter. In the second quarter, Naz Reid from Minnesota rode the basket on a fake dribble drain. He took a hard mistake from Piston’s Rookie Ron Holland. The tensions had risen the entire game between the pistons and Timberwolves. Holland’s fault on Reid was the boiling point. After Holland had contaminated Reid, the PF of Minnesota immediately went to the Rookie. They exchanged a few words and Donte Divincenzo quickly came in to help his teammate.
Divincenzo, however, laid his hands in the neck area of Ron Holland and the situation quickly escalated. Five players including Donte Divincenzo, Naz Reid, Isaiah Stewart and Marcus Sassers were cast out. Piston’s head coach JB Bickerstaff and Timberwolves Assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were also shifted.
For an unbiased observer, Donte Divincenzo started the party on Sunday evening. Reid and Holland were in each other’s faces, but Divincenzo was the first to put another player in his hands. After the game, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said that the game became “too physical” before the fight started. Piston’s head coach JB, Bickerstaff was proud of his team because he stood up for himself and did not deteriorate. Although this only plays twice a season, this should heat a heated rivalry between the pistons and Timberwolves.
