Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red Apparel Line has its first official (non-tiger) PGA Tour ambassador, and his name is Karl Vilips.
Vilips, 23, grew up that forests were abandoned and followed a similar route such as the PGA Tour.
The Australian was a prodigy and won the Junior Worlds at the age of 10. He moved to the United States at the age of 11 and went to Stanford, like Woods, partly because of the inheritance that the 15-big winner made in Palo Alto. Vilips earned his tour card via the Korn Ferry Tour last year, won at the Utah Championship and finished 19th in the rankings on the way to Rookie of the Year Honors.
“Karl’s journey is characterized by success at every level he has played. At Sun Day Red we were attracted to his ruthless work ethics and pioneering mind that embodies what we stand for and are looking for in our athletes, “Woods said in a press release. “With its impressive track record and determination, I have no doubt that he will soon have a significant impact on the PGA Tour and is one of the future stars of the game.”
This week Vilips will make his PGA Tour secondary debut on the 2025 Mexico Open in Vidantaworld after being sidelined to start the season due to an injury. He will do this in the brand of the wave legend whose footsteps he hopes to follow.
“It is a sensation to be part of Sun Day Red, especially as early as we start growing the brand around the world,” said Vilips. “Tiger Woods was my idol that grew up, and knowing that he drives the insights and care behind Sun Day Red’s clothing and footwear gives us a unique lead that no other company can match. I could not be more proud to be the first official ambassador of the brand. “
