Oklahoma City Thunder Guard/Forward Jalen Williams will miss a crucial collision against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday due to a hip tribe.
It decreases part of the shine what a selection framework is and a potential NBA Finals review.
Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis are both doubtful for the game on the side of Boston.
Williams sustained the injury during the loss of the Thunder 140-127 for the Denver Nuggets on Monday evening. Nuggets Vooruit Peyton Watson landed him halfway through the second quarter.
Williams makes the All-Star team for the first time in his career and is on average career hogers across the board with 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.7 Steals. His defensive versatility is one of the big reasons why Oklahoma City has been the best defense of the competition this season.
Williams was performed for the Thunder in a huge way after Chet Holmgren injured himself very early in the season.
Thunder will probably continue to roll
Oklahoma City has not confused in the light of an injury and they still have the likely MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in action.
There is also not too much at stake, because the Thunder has an 11-game lead on the nuggets for the top seeds in the West. There can still be the hope of catching Cleveland for the best record in the competition. The cavs make that chase very difficult and win 14 straight games to have a two-game advantage in the loss column.
Expect Oklahoma City to lean on Luguentz Dort in the absence of Williams for some extra attack and expect the same stellar defense. The external shooting threat of Isaiah Joe will also be calculated, while Alex Caruso may have to play a greater role.
This should now offer an opportunity for Holmgren to have a higher use for no matter how long Williams has been.
The injury seems small for the time being, so it should only be a temporary adjustment for the Thunder. Boston will certainly be a tough fight, but the schedule is not too intimidating after that.
