Last weekend the NBA held its 2025 All-Star festivities. Commissioner Adam Silver again changed the format of the All-Star game.

Instead of the traditional East vs. West was a matchup in Bracket style. According to reports, the All-Star game was an average of 4.7 million viewers. That fell by 13% compared to their figures from last year. It was also the one-star game at the second test in the competition history. What can Adam Silver do to get viewers back?

Will the All-Star game ever mean something for players again?

In the past 10 years, the NBA All-Star game has become an important talk point. At the time, players would make maximum efforts in the All-Star game. It was an extremely competitive pick -up game with the best players in the competition. Since then, the effort level of players has taken a dramatic drop and has left the All-Star game in a terrible place.

Players do not give their full effort in the All-Star game and it is reflected in viewers. Last Sunday the All-Star competition was broadcast on TNT, TBS and Trutv. The viewers fell 13% compared to figures from 2024. The last three All-Star games have on average fewer than 6 million viewers. They are the only three all-star games in the NBA history with less than 6 million.

After another All-Star game failed in 2025, everyone is in their opinion. Kenny Smith van TNT believes that the competition will switch back to the East vs. West format. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo believes that there should be a USA versus Team World format team. The NBA must dig deep and find an answer to this problem. They have tried to warn the All-Star game several times, but viewers is still trending in the wrong direction. What is the next step for the NBA?
