When it comes to golf and travel, we have one word for you: Wales.
Not the mammals you see from Kapalua. We refer to the proud nation in the United Kingdom, which deserves our nod as a sleeper destination for lovers of the game.
Often overshadowed by the nearby competition-looking at you, Scotland and Ireland-IS Wales for a long time on our radar, and it received a daring invoicing in a recent episode of the Destination Golf Podcast, when Co-Hosts Simon Holt and Josh Sens gave their nominations for the most undervalued countries of the world.
Sens selected Wales as one of his four choices, who choose Layouts such as Royal Porthcawl, Royal St. David’s, Pennard and Southerndown as proof of a country that is not owing its golf-you. From championship locations to quirky courses that have been put on common land, Wales has it all. But the offer is the tendency to escape the notification of shiny magazines.
The other choices of Sens were the Dominican Republic, where teeth of the dog and Punta Espada head a long -term schedule of first -class resort tracks; Portugal (if you think golf there is limited to the Algarve, you have to spend some time closer to Lisbon); And Canada, where the options vary from golden centuries such as Highlands Left, Banff and Jasper to the modern minimalist masterpieces Cabot Cape Breton. The next time you want to book a trip, don’t forget our friends in the north.
Holt opposed his own quartet. New Zealand was at the top of his list. In Arai and Tara Iti there are two recent additions to a bulging portfolio of beautiful coastal clubs that also include Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs. Holt was completed with his RECs and went with Japan, the Netherlands and another unfortunate star of the United Kingdom: England.
