Strabag wins contracts to modernize the Czech railway infrastructure

Strabag Rail has established contracts worth approximately € 360 million ($ 421.7 million), co -financed by the EU, to modernize selected Czech rail infrastructure.

The first awarded project includes upgrading a part of 10 km between Nezamyslice and Kojetín on the BRNO-Přerov line for high-speed trains.

The subsidiary of Strabag leads the consortium that is responsible for the upgrade, which includes double tracking and doubling line speed. The contract, with a value of € 110 million, started in May and was set for completion by January 2029.

An important feature of this project is a 744 m long Twin-track tunnel near Němčice, built using open-cut methods.

A new intersection at Hruška will increase the line capacity, and two stops, Měrovice Nad Hanou and Němčice Nad Hanou, will be upgraded to barrier -free standards. The latter will contain a new bus terminal.

Along this route, 2,300 m sound barriers and new bridges will also be installed, with train movements that are checked by the European train control system and the global system for mobile communication – rail systems.

The second project focuses on modernizing the railway connection of česká třebová. This project comprises 72 km course, overhead lines and 30 bridge structures.

Allegedly the largest tendering of the Czech railway administration, the traces for passenger and freight traffic will rebuild and modernize platforms with new awnings and a pedestrian bridge.

This project is expected to be closed at the beginning of 2032 and preparing works will be carried out throughout the year. These include temporary signaling systems, the new Potok Junction and initial rail network sections.

The most important works at the passenger station are planned for 2028, with a new connecting line in Třebovice underway.

Strabag se South + East Segment Management Board -member Alfred Watzl said: “These two prestigious projects enable Strabag Rail to contribute its full expertise and long -term experience in the railway construction.

“Both play a strategic role in creating a modern, sustainable Czech railway infrastructure and in linking to the Trans-European transport network. Travelers can already look forward to more comfort and shorter travel times.”

Last month the company reported an increase of 38.7% in the intake of the order for the construction segment of the transport infrastructure.
