Newcastle United says manager Eddie Howe is ‘in the best possible hands’ while recovering from pneumonia in the hospital.
Howe, 47, missed Sunday’s 4-1 victory against Manchester United and will also miss Wednesday’s game against Crystal Palace, without a fixed date for his return.
Assistant Jason Tindall again takes the lead over the side in St James’ Park against the Eagles.
He said: “We know that Eddie is in the best possible hands and he will come back as soon as he thinks he is ready to come back 100% to lead the team.
“Of course your health is the most important thing and that is why it is so important that when Eddie decides to come back, he returns and the team can lead as he does day in day out, fully recovered. And I am sure he will do that.

“We shared a few SMS messages yesterday. The most important thing for the manager is now to rest and restore and probably not worry about anything other than to ensure that he recovers as quickly as possible.
“Hopefully we can have him here as quickly as possible as our leader, but only if he is 100% equal to do this.”
Jason Tindall on Sandro Tonali:
“From a football perspective we did a lot of research into Sandro [before he signed]. We loved him as a football player, technical and tactical. But it is only if you work so closely with him, you realize what an exceptional talent he is and he is … pic.twitter.com/0alzsqnwe7

Newcastle would move above Nottingham Forest to the third in the Premier League table on Wednesday on Wednesday, but Palace himself fights for European football itself after a great shape.
Tindall said: “We don’t think about anything other than the preparations for tomorrow night to deliver a performance that we know we have to deliver to be good enough to win the game.
“We know that Crystal Palace is in a fantastic form. On Saturday, there was only their second defeat on the road in 15 games. They don’t give too many goals. It will be a real, really difficult challenge for us. They are a dangerous side.
“But if we can look and deliver performance such as the weekend, it will hopefully go a long way to help us get the points we want.”
