After a very dominant 2024 WNBA season, the New York Liberty wants to repeat the same magic as they watch next season. They succeeded in keeping their primary core together and will again have one of the most talented grilles in the WNBA, so that that wish wanted a very plausible result.
Admittedly, they will have to compete against some highly improved teams, including the Indiana fever led by Caitlin Clark. This will undoubtedly be much more difficult than they encountered last season, so they don’t have to look at the season as if it were just a walk in the park.

If Breanna Stewart can be healthy at least 50% of the season, the New York Liberty has great opportunities to go back-to-back this year.
That selection is quite deep, and if the health of everyone is intact, it is difficult to name more than 2-3 teams they win.

Yet they are still the 2025 WNBA Championship Favorites with +200 chances to win the title, according to Fanduel, and with good reason. The rest of the competition will look extremely different, and although they have lost Courtney Vandersloot, it can be much worse.
Often newly constructed schedules can be scary on opposing teams, because placing several elite players in the same team is generally a recipe for success. That said, chemistry will be everything with these new WNBA teams.
The Liberty already has a proven selection that did not see too many changes, which means that they will undoubtedly flow well. The same cannot be said for these other teams, even the fever, who become a competition himself. Clark helped Indiana to an excellent second half of the season that turned into a play -off push, but it is not to tell how she will play with her new weapons.
This does not mean that these other teams are not passing in New York this season, but it is premature to suggest something of this kind. Until proven differently, New York remains the favorite to win the title by far.
