Napoli achieved a crucial 2-1 victory over AC Milan in the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to move three points above the top of the Serie A.
First half of the goals of Matteo Politano and Romelu Lukaku turned out to be sufficient for the side of Antonio Conte, despite the late strike by Luka Jovic that the Rossoneri Hope gave.
Conte could not have asked for a better start, where his team only found the net for two minutes in the game. Giovanni di Lorenzo rose from his right -wing position and brought a pass to Politano, who perfectly timed his run before he ended up past Mike Maignan.
Milan, struggling to respond, was further in the 19th minute. Billy Gilmour showed his vision with an excellent defense split to Lukaku, who showed great calmness to lift the ball over the benefit of Maignan and Double Napoli.
The visitors made changes during the break, in which Rafael Leao stood up in an attempt to generate their attack. The relocation paid dividends when Milan started to create opportunities.
Their best chance arrived in the 69th minute when Leoo combined with Theo Hernandez and went wrong in the penalty area of Philip Billing. Santiago Gimenez stepped up to take the spot kick, but Alex Meret produced a stunning salvation to keep Napoli’s two-target lead intact.

Milan refused to withdraw and eventually found a breakthrough in the 84th minute. Hernandez, influential in the left flank, delivered a low cross in the six-year box, where Jovic reacted the fastest to steer the ball into the net.
While the competition entered the stop time, Milan continued to threaten. Leao was seriously involved and pulled a mistake from Di Lorenzo in a dangerous position, but the resulting free kick was well defended.
Chukwueze had blocked a late shot and despite the depropriation of their opponents in expected goals (2.69 to 0.96), Milan could not find the crucial second goal.
The victory ensures that Napoli stays in second place in the Serie A, Milan in the meantime remains in the ninth and will soon have to shift their focus to their Coppa Italia Semi-final collision against Inter on Wednesday for a competition with Fiorentina on Saturday.
