Co-owner of Manchester United Sir Jim Ratcliffe says that some players in the club “are not good enough” and “too much”, while he revealed that the club will pay for players he inherited this summer.
Ratcliffe has spent more than £ 1 billion to buy in the club and is responsible for football activities at Old Trafford.
He has supervised a campaign that has recorded the resignation of Erik ten Hag and hiring Ruben Amorim – but United has had a terrible season.
Amorim’s side is 14th in the Premier League.
Ratcliffe said to the BBC: “If you look at the players we buy this summer, we didn’t buy, we buy Antony, we buy Casemiro, we buy Andre Onana, we buy Rasmus Hojlund, we buy Jadon Sancho. These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we have inherited those things and have to look it up.
“For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half of his wages, we pay £ 17 million to buy it in the summer.
“Some are not good enough and some are probably paid too much, but for us to form the team for which we are fully responsible and are responsible, will take time.
“We have this period of transformation where we will go from the past to the future.
“There are some great players in the team as we know, the captain is a fantastic football player. We absolutely need Bruno Fernandes, he is a fantastic football player. “
Sancho scored 12 goals for United, but fell out of grace under ten Hag and brought back the second half of last season at the former club Borussia Dortmund before he came to Chelsea last summer.
