Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the Manchester City Erling Haaland striker could be absent for ‘a maximum of seven weeks’ with the ankle injury he sustained on Sunday in Bournemouth.

Haaland shot from the FA Cup -Stropdas shortly after the hour at the Vitality Stadium and a protective boot was seen after the game.

The 24-year-old has undergone further tests on Monday and Guardiola says he remains hopeful that he will return before the end of the season.

He said, ‘They told me, the doctors, [he will be without for] Between five and seven weeks. So hopefully the end of the season and the club World Cup will be ready. ‘

Season of Woe for Manchester City

It is the newest injury for Manchester City, whose hope for a fifth consecutive Premier League title has been derailed by a series of setbacks.

“Sometimes there are years in which things like this happen,” Guardiola added. “It happened all season. I would say it could have been different if it was the end of the season [before the Club World Cup]. So with all the injuries we have had this season, I am so sorry for them and also for Erling. So [I wish him] A good recovery, as soon as possible, come back. ‘

No natural replacement for Haaland, Guardiola admits

City goes to fifth place in the Premier League in the Premier League, but with a large number of clubs hoping to chase them during the remaining weeks.

Guardiola now has a major problem to solve, given the city has no natural replacement for Haaland.

‘We have no other player with Erling Haaland’S skills or its specific qualities – we know, “he said.” But we have to adjust, and since many years we have played different ways in advance, and it depends on the quality of the players.

“We will find a solution of the players we have. They all have different skills and qualities. We will have one more [striker]. “
