Virgil van Dijk told his Liverpool teammates “Chin Up and Ring Made for the Next Challenge” after their Champions League dreams were interrupted tonight by Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG won 4-1 on a penalty shoot-out after Ousmane Dembele’s first half goal had pulled the sides 1-1 on aggregate.
Both teams had opportunities to win it during an absorbent 120 minutes before Gianluigi Donnarumma Darwin Nunez and the penalties of Curtis Jones saved to send the men of Luis Enrique.

Wembley Next for Liverpool
Liverpool will soon have to bounce back if they want to claim their first piece of silverware this season, because their next game will be against Newcastle on Sunday in the EFL Cup final in Wembley.
Captain Van Dijk told Amazon Prime: “It was a very intense, great football game, I am also thinking of being part of it. It was completely for Liverpool and unfortunately we are punished and that is the reality.
“I think we have created dangerous moments in the first half and they also have the quality, and then it comes down to punishment.
“It’s part of football. I told the boys, of course you can be disappointed because we are out of the competition, but Kin and prepare us for the next challenge, a nice at the weekend. “
A tough evening for Liverpool 💔

Liverpool improves but still not enough
Last week Liverpool rode their happiness to win a 1-0 win in the Parc des Princes last week, in which goalkeeper Alisson made a series of fine saves before Harvey Elliott struck.
They were much better tonight, although PSG bore the greater threat as the game progressed.
“I think we were pretty good today, and you want to go as far as possible, but we knew that when we pulled PSG, it would be very difficult,” Van Dijk added.
‘We saw [that] In Paris, when we struggled, but we won, and today we saw a very good Liverpool side, but we are out of the competition.
“When the fatigue starts for both parties, it becomes more open, but especially regular time, we showed a very good game. We have been able to talk about the game for years, but we are out of competition, that is the reality. “
