Arne Slot admitted Liverpool “had bad luck” after seeing their Champions League-Hoop ended by Paris Saint-Germain.
The MerseSiders were lucky to appear with a 1-0 lead of the first stage in Paris last week with goalkeeper Alisson who made a series of impressive rescues.
Last night’s game started in an opposite way, while Liverpool flowed ahead without applying the finishing touch and then being caught by a quick counterattack finished by Ousmane Dembele.
That leveled the scores on aggregated and the game went to extra time and then punishing with PSG who won 4-1 after Gianluigi Donnarumma saved from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones.

“It was the best football game I was ever involved in,” said Slot on Amazon Prime. “Incredible achievements, especially in comparison with last week. The first 20/25 minutes we were all over them, created coincidence after coincidence and suddenly we were 1-0 down. It was probably the opposite, maybe we were not lucky because the margins were so small tonight.
“After 90 minutes it felt that we earned more than 1-0 lower. I was waiting for us to score. We played the perfect game, except for scoring goals, it was the same for PSG last week when they played the perfect game and did not score and it happened to us today.
“It had everything you would like to see from a football match. From a Liverpool perspective you would like to have a draw after 90 minutes, but it came down to punishment. “
Heavy draw for Liverpool says Slot
PSG struggled in the first weeks of the renewed Champions League group phase and had to pass Brest in the play to reach the last 16.
But they are now a different proposition and the two versions against Liverpool mark them as one of the favorites of the tournament.
Slot added: “It feels unfair to go out on this round, you’re at the top of the table and then you are confronted with a team like PSG, but that is also the beautiful part of football. Everyone around the world enjoyed watching this game and the margins are small, and if you want to win it, I don’t have some luck today.
“Now it is clear what we have to do for the rest of the season, one League Cup -Final and nine Premier League matches to go.”
Liverpool will be confronted with Newcastle on Sunday in the EFL Cup final in Wembley.
