Liverpool will continue their title statement against Newcastle on Wednesday after being clearly gone at the top of the Premier League at the weekend.
The Premier League who returns to Anfield now seems only a matter of time after the Reds defeated Manchester City on Etihad on Sunday Manchester City, while Newcastle strengthened their top-four hope with a 4-3 victory over Nottingham Forest earlier in the day .
It has been a fascinating game in recent years in the English top flight and the most recent meeting between the two was the newest episode of it, in which the couple played an exciting 3-3 draw in St James’ Park in December.
It is also a pre-cursor for the Carabao Cup that will play in Wembley next month, with both parties who want to land this season for the first piece of silverware.
The Magpies have not won in Anfield since a 1-0 win in the League Cup in 1995, while you have to go back to 1994 to find the last time they have left in the Premier League in Liverpool. The Reds were not beaten by the tone at home in 28 games.

Prediction
After a shaky few weeks, Liverpool seemed to have the little bit between their teeth in the victory over the city and this competition will go in with great confidence.
Newcastle was well defeated by the city the weekend before, but were excellent in the first half against Forest before they fell in the second half and they were lucky to win. Liverpool has to continue their good record against the Geordies here.
