Lexus is again at the top of the ranks of JD Power’s Latest Vehicle Dependence Research (VDS), but car owners generally make more complaints as vehicles become increasingly complex.
The 2025 JD Power VDS, now in its 36th year, includes 184 specific problem areas for vehicle categories, such as infotainment systems, Diver Assistance Tech, Powertrain and interior and exterior functions, during the first three years of property.
The Lexus Brand from Toyota (TM) achieved the highest awards in the reliability of vehicles for a third consecutive year, with a score of 140 PP100 (problems per 100 vehicles). GMs (GM) Buick Brand is highest in the mass market segment, with a score of 143. Mazda (Mzday) was second with 161, and Toyota, on 162, finished third.
At the Premium end, Cadillac (169) is second behind the general winner Lexus (also a premium brand), with Porsche van Germany (186) in third place.
On the other hand, Volkswagen (285), Chrysler (282, Jeep (275), VW’s Audi (273) and Land Rover (270) suffered the most problems and stood in the bottom five. Tesla ranked in the middle of the pack ( 209).
JD Power said that the 2025 VDS is based on answers of 34,175 owners of 2022 model 19E vehicles after three years of property. The VDS differs from the widespread quality research of JD Power, which relates to problems relating to the first year of ownership.
In general, problems with software defects and personal device integration (ie, connecting iPhones and Android devices), plus problems with plug-in hybrid EVs, plagued owners of those cars purchased in 2022. JD Power discovered that industry generally saw a 6% increase in problems (12 pp100) compared to a year ago.
“Although the increase in problems this year can be a thorn in the side of car manufacturers and owners, it is important to remember that today’s three -year -old vehicles were built at a time when industry struggled with major disturbances,” Jason said Norton, director of Auto Benchmarking at JD Power. “Supply chain problems, record-high vehicle prices and staff disturbance after the pandemic were problematic.”
In general, Toyota and GM products received the most prices at model level, with six each.
The most reliable model in general in all brands was Toyota’s Avalon Sedan, a full-size vehicle that, interesting, is not one of Toyota’s top sellers. The highest ranked compact car was the Toyota Corolla, followed by the Kia Forte and Subaru Impreza. The Premium segment had the faithful 3 series of the BMW on top, with the 4 -series in second place.
The medium -sized car segment had the best -selling Camry that achieved the highest award, followed by Nissan’s Altima and the Hyundai Sonata. The Chevrolet Corvette had the highest score in the premium “sporty” car segment.
