Jon Rahm has been one of the best golfers in the world since he was on stage with a victory at the Farmers Insurance 2017.

Since then, the Spanish star has quickly risen the official world golf ranking and has since been a staple. Rahm rose to world no. 1 and held the place for a total of 52 weeks.

But after moving to Liv Golf – who does not get OWGR points because it does not meet the criteria – Rahm slowly crossed the ladder.

According to OWGR expert Nosferatu, Rahm will reach a point in the world rankings that he has not occupied since he sank the 60-foot put to win the Farmers Insurance 2017: he will fall outside the top 50 in the world.

Rahm’s move to Liv clearly plays a huge role in his ranking. Rahm is currently the no for each data wave, which takes into account LIV events. 4 golfer in the world behind Scottie Scheffler, Rory Mcilroy and Xander Schauffele.

But Rahm also had a bad big season in 2024. He missed the cut at the PGA championship and finished 45th with the Masters. Rahm did not play in the US Open because of an injury, but returned to post a T-7 finish at the opening. He also placed three Top-10 Finishes on the DP World Tour in the fall before missing the cut at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January. Rahm won twice in LIV last season and placed back-to-back top-10 finishes to start this season.

Former Liv CEO Greg Norman drew the request from LIV for OWGR points after it had already been rejected.

Rahm remains determined that LIV players earn OWGR points. But he understands that he is dealing with the consequences of his decision.

“They told me early, I think that even before I signed in the early conversations, they would not follow those discussions to the same level because they knew where it was targeted,” said Rahm in Dubai in January. I think that at the moment no LIV ranking order -points and the credibility it deserves, I think it is wrong.

“I understand that we have all made a decision, and it is not as easy as it sounds, but to say that LIV players do not earn any places in large championships, I think, is wrong, and I hope that is evolving to What it should be, anyway….

Although the USGA and R&A have recently created exemptions for LIV, OWGR points do not seem to be in the future of LIV.

Because that is the case, Rahm will continue to fall in the ranking, unless he delivers a better big season than in 2024.
