On Thursday, Jim Cramer, the host of Mad Money, shared his thoughts on the recent position of the president against the ‘false free trade era’, in which he expressed his agreement with the shift of free trade.
“Yes, I am not a big fan of free trade. Yes, I feel that our country has been abused by our so -called trading partners, especially when it comes to cars. And yes, I prefer the 25% rate for the input of the car. Close watchers of the show know that this is not a new view of me. I have destroyed the entire industries in this country.”

Cramer said that in the 1990s America concluded a “deal with the devil” by allowing the influx of cheap goods from abroad. He noted that although there is nothing inherently wrong with affordable products, the consideration has been the decimation of American industry and the destruction of factory cities throughout the country.
Cramer noted that the loss of production paths was a great concern. He noted that although the decision to import cheap goods at that time seemed like a good deal, afterwards, this led to considerable social and economic damage. He added:
“Now the president has stated that false free trade age is over, and I am on board, even if I wish he could draw up a clear plan instead of rolling out the rates one by one.”
He emphasized that if America would reduce the production paths, sacrifices would be needed, including the imposition of rates. The most important point for Cramer was the recognition that these jobs, along with the many associated positions that were linked to them, had been lost, but there is perhaps an opportunity for some to return.
“Nowadays, factory jobs may not be as important as any other kind of job, to be honest, but if we look at all these stripped small cities in our country that have led to such a despair, such drug use, homelessness, the bargain for cheap goods, I think it is a mistake.
