Richard Kind made a guest appearance on a special musical episode of Night Court, that was broadcast on 11 March. The series is a revival of a beloved show that follows a magistrate (Melissa Rauch) who presents the night shift of a Manhattan Criminal Court and the Kooky characters that she regularly encounters.

In the episode, Kind Broadway producer Sy Hoffman, who helps a public defender (John Larroquette) to adjust his memoirs to a musical production. Hoffman is a bit of a slimy and self -served character, so things are not going as planned.

In contrast to his character, Kind has built up a reputation as an actor who is willing to make cameos and guest appearances in tons of shows. While he jokes in a cameo on the Netflix series Girls5eva, He has ‘an IMDB page as long as the beard of a wizard’. He has appeared in the past year alone Night Court, only murders in the building, Velma, Evil, Clone High And more in both guest and recurring roles.

Tell me, what’s going on with Sy Hoffman in this episode of Nettle?

You have to speak a little louder.

What is it? Can you hear me?

I can hear you. It’s me. I drive through Palm Springs and it’s windy outside.

Okay, no problem. So tell me, what’s going on with Sy in this episode? What is he planning?

Oh, he is a producer!

Yes! What does he produce?

You ask me if I am taking this stuff seriously [laughs]! It comes in and I don’t know what the hell did five months ago.

Okay, I think that’s great –

Talk louder. Talk as if you are talking to a deaf man.

Is your Nettle Character, sy, inspired by someone?

I did the game The producers On Broadway. He is the sitcom version of [Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck] producer. But you know, every producer is a producer.

There is a scene in Nettle If you eat a sandwich and admire people in the neighborhood how voriously you do that. How often did you have to do that?

I had to eat that sandwich a lot. When I go to a Deli, I never order Pastrami or Corned Beef. It’s bad for me. I try to eat healthily. But this – I do this for my art, so why not? I did not split it after the recording was over – I never do that. I just finished it. It was delicious.

OK. I’ll just scream. So you are now famous for your ability to make cameies or guest appearances in every show. You have this reputation as someone who is so generous with your time.

Well, I have to tell you. I don’t try to do too much of them in TV programs because there is a stigma to appear on so many many as a guest. It seems that you could not be a fixed value. But I’m stuck in many TV programs, so I think I have to maintain that. But if they ask me to come in once and it is of course fun, what the hell is there! I’ll do it. I like to work. I wish there [wasn’t a] Stigma because I like to think of all these things as a repertoire company. You go inside and get another playground to play in.

That sounds so nice! I saw you on Broadway not long ago – in AllWith John Mulaney. Are you excited to work with him again as his announcer for his new Netflix show, Everyone live?

It delights me. John Mulaney delighted me. Doing the show scares me.

Oh, no! Why?

Because we are live! We live all over the world! What if I say something stupid? What if I show my true colors? [Mulaney] Is so smart and you want to be as smart as it is. He has great guests and you want to serve the guests. I am terrified. It’s very scary.

Is there anything else you are not where you would like to do a guest role?

There is a whole world of things! But I just like to do the work.
