Former Liverpool and Wales -defender Joey Jones died at the age of 70.
Jones played 100 times for Liverpool between 1975 and 1978 and won two European cups, a UEFA cup and a competition title.
The left back also earned 72 caps for Wales and started and ended his career at Wrexham after spells in Anfield, Chelsea and Huddersfield.
Wrexham AFC has been destroyed to learn from the death of club legend Joey Jones.
A real club legend, on and next to the field, with time for everyone he met, Joey will be missed enormously by everyone who knew him.

Jones’ former Wales teammate Mickey Thomas posted X: “This morning I lost my best friend and soulmate, Sir Joey, our memories will never fade off my heart. I love your Sir Joey Rip. My condolences are with Janice and all family.”
The contribution of Jones to Liverpool was immortalized in the ‘Joey Ate de Kikkersvoten, the Swiss roll, now he chewed Gladbach’ banner unveiled by fans during the final victory of the European Cup over Borussia Monchengladbach.
The banner was in reference to victories on St. Etienne and Zurich in the quarter and the semi -final.

With Wrexham, Jones won the Welsh Cup and helped the club to reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup in 1974.
A message from the club on X was: “Wrexham AFC was destroyed to learn about the death of club legend Joey Jones. A real club legend, on and next to the field, with time for everyone he met, Joey will be missed enormously by everyone who knew him.”
There were also tribute on X from former Liverpool -Stars Jamie Carragher and John Aldridge and Football Association of Wales Chief Executive Noel Moeney.
Aldridge wrote: “What a sweet man and an inspiring full back that gave his heart and soul in a red shirt and for all the clubs he played for! Our thoughts are with Joey’s family! I have a happy man who has often met him.”
