Tallahassee, Fla. (AP) – The new Attorney General of Florida filed a federal lawsuit against Target on Thursday and claimed the “failed investors” of the discount shop by promoting diversity, shares and inclusion initiatives that cause a return and damage to a recoil And ultimately the sale of the sale, ultimately costs for shareholders, ultimately.
Before it was the dei efforts last month, Target has long been considered a business leez for the rights of Black and LGBTQ+ people. The Retailer’s decision in 2023 to roll out LGBTQ+ Merchandise in honor of Pride Month indignant some shoppers and led to confrontations in some stores.
In the lawsuit brought in Fort Myers, Florida, attorney -general James Uthmmeier argued that Target has violated the Securities Exchange Act by not making the “known risks” of his Dei and Pride Month initiatives known.
“Companies that push radical left -wing ideology at the expense of financial returns, endangers the pension protection of the first responds and teachers of Florida,” said Uthmeier in a statement. “My office will continue with a company reform – not an offensive political theater.”
Uthmeier, who this week through the Republican Gov. Ron Desantis was appointed as Attorney General, promised to use the legal collection of the State to “defend an agenda of the America-first agenda” and to challenge what he called “The Left”.
Target did not respond to a request for comment.
Target announced at the end of January that it was planning to terminate a program aimed at better serving black employees, black shoppers and black companies. The retailer based in Minneapolis led a series of dei initiatives after the police murder of George Floyd in 2020.
Since then, diversity, fairness and inclusion policy of conservative activists and the White House have been attacked. Walmart and a number of other prominent American brands have also demolished or reduced their dei obligations.
Earlier this month, the Attorney General of Missouri Starbucks sued his diversity policy and claimed that the coffee chain that deals with “systemic racial, sexual and sexual orientation -discrimination”. The Seattle -based company has called the claims ‘inaccurate’.
