Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will get the freedom of the city after the historic Carabao Cup victory of the club on Liverpool.
Howe led the Magpies to a 2-1 victory on Sunday and provided their first major trophy since 1969.
As a recognition for this performance, he receives the highest civil honor that Newcastle Can can donate – an award that was previously granted to club legends such as Sir Bobby Robson, Alan Shearer and Jackie Milburn.
The announcement comes as a different local hero, defender than Burn, has been nominated for the freedom of Northumberland.
Blyth, born in Blyth, played a key role in the final and scored the opening goal of Newcastle at Wembley-De first of the club in the stadium in 25 years.

“Generations of supporters have never seen their beloved club lifting a domestic trophy, and under his leadership we all have cherished memories of a really unforgettable day,” she said.
The formal confirmation of How’s Award is expected to take place during a full council meeting later this year.
In the meantime, Glen Sanderon Glen Sanderon of Northumberland County Council praised Burnn’s contribution and confirmed the plans to nominate him for the freedom of Northumberland.
“It is a big win for the region and the fact that a local boy from Blyth played such a crucial part of the trip is great,” he said.
In addition to these awards, Northumberland National Park has brought a tribute in a unique way – temporarily renamed Elsdon Burn Walk as “Big Dan Burn Walk.”
“Northumberland National Park is a place as grand and expansive as then itself,” they added and refer to the towering 6ft 6 -in -height of the defender.
