Not much could have provided the Carmelo Anthony Washington Wizards -confession on his podcast, but with the franchise in the midst of a rebuild, his expertise could be a suitable fit.
“I want to buy”: Carmelo Anthony’s Washington Wizards Confession draws eyebrows
It is no secret that the Washington Wizards are struggling, and it can take some time before they peel themselves out of the mud.
The franchise is glued on the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a grim record of 16-59 and recently passed the shame of the heaviest defeat ever-a loss of 53 points for the pacers.
Their last Playoff appearance came in the 2020-21 season, but fell at the first obstacle after the Philadelphia 76ers drove to a 4-1 win.
At the moment there is little to scream for Washington fans, but the chance is that if the season will continue to refuel, they will almost certainly stand in line for a first round of NBA concept choice.
With the future of the wizards still in the air, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony has surprisingly declared his interest to connect the franchise and say that he would ‘like to’ want to buy the team.
Speaking on his podcast from ‘19.00 hours in Brooklyn, “said the 10-time All Star:” I want to buy the wizards.
“I would be a great owner. I am a former player, I understand players, I understand staff, be strategic, how to build teams and I also understand what I don’t understand.”
Anthony also shared his formula for effective ownership and said that he would put people in dominant positions with “basketball insight” while he supports franchise with experienced business people.
There are certainly things to be optimistic about as Wizards fan, despite the current downfall and gloom. They are favorites to land No.1 Draft Prospect Cooper Flagg from Duke, along with two seconds of picks.
The Front Office of Washington certainly prioritizes a strong rebuilding for the future, in which AJ Johnson is landed in the Deadline of February, while he also cherished no. 2 Overall Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly, Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George George since the start of the season.
Although those building blocks still have to translate into results, it is clear to see the direction they are going, and adding Anthony’s expertise can be exactly what they need to bring it to the next level.
