SAO PAULO (REUTERS) – The Brazilian airline Azul reported the nuclear win of the fourth quarter on Monday slightly above the market expectations and said that it was optimistic about this year, after a challenging 2024 characterized by a large debt restructuring.
The income of the courier for interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) reached 1.95 billion Reais ($ 340.31 million) in the period of October-December, was 33% on an annual basis, helped by higher passenger tracing and loading factor .
Analysts interviewed by LSEG expected EBITDA to come in the quarter of 1.91 billion Reais.
“The combination of a weakening Brazilian Real, the floods in Rio Grande do Sul State, considerable OEM (original equipment of equipment) and supply chain problems and higher than expected fuel prices for a very challenging year,” said CEO John Rodgerson, “said CEO John Rodgerson in a statement.

The net turnover increased by 10.2% in the fourth quarter to 5.54 billion Reais, while analysts expected 5.62 billion Reais.
Azul recently concluded a major restructuring that included the termination of almost $ 1.6 billion in debts from his balance, while it also yielded $ 525 million in fresh money.
The company is now looking at a potential business combination with rival Gol that would create a dominant carrier in the number 1 economy of Latin -America, where about 60% of the domestic market is held.
