A few eyebrows were erected when Claudio Ranieri was dragged out of retirement to take the lead over Roma for the third time.
The 73-year-old was lured from the bank by the idea of recovering calmness to the Giallorossi, who started the season with Daniele de Rossi who was in charge before he was removed for Ivan Juric, who only lasted 53 days at the helm.
Ranieri has not inspired an immediate transformation, but Roma seems to have found their pass in recent weeks. They have been unbeaten in the Serie A since December 15 and have won six of their last nine games to climb to the ninth in the table.
Their European hope depends on the Europa League Playoff tonight against Porto in the Italian capital.

A Francisco Moura equalizer denied Roma in Porto last week, the game ended 1-1, but we are convinced that the men of Ranieri will do the job tonight.
This is not a Vintage Porto side and they are third in the Primeira League, behind Benfica and leaders with CP.
They only won one of their last six in the competition, a 1-0 success at Farense at the weekend, thanks to another Moura goal.
Double Gala
We find Roma in a double that also includes Galatasaray.
The Turkish giants were hammered 4-1 last week by AZ Alkmaar in the first stage, which means that Gala has to produce something special on home grass.
It will be a hostile atmosphere and few clubs are more difficult to stop when they play a role. Add the fact that Star -striker Victor Osimhen is back from the suspension and we have followed up for a home victory.
Whether it is enough to endure gala is another matter.
