Ben Affleck knows how to give a good interview.
The Accountant 2 Star spoke with GQ first in-depth chat since the separation of Jennifer Lopez in August 2024 and left readers outside the headlines. From his co-parenting relationship with Jennifer Garner to what went wrong with his Batman era, here are the fasciaic moments of the Affleck sit-down.
Affleck says that he and the good collaboration of ‘good collaboration’
The Oscar winner has a pretty good head on his shoulders over fame as someone who has been in the spotlight for three decades. Now he simply cares about how it influences his children.
“We used to have something, my ex-wife and I, if they would see something in a supermarket stand, we would say, well,” you know that this is not always true, because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories where they said your mother was pregnant, “he said. “And I am really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the mother of the children, who is great and great and we work well together. It is more headache than something else, and there are certainly worse things.”
Despite photos from Garner and Affleck, it looks nice during a recent paintball outing with their son, there is apparently no truth for rumors about a reconciliation. She goes from businessman John Miller.
About those rumors that fame played a role in J.Lo Split …
Lopez served from Affleck in August and there was a lot of speculation by the press about their split. Sources claimed that their different approaches of fame caused a gap in their reconfirmed romance. Affleck said it is not that simple.
“There are many people I think they found the celebrity and treated more agile than I, Jennifer among them. My temperament is to be a little more reserved and private than hers,” he explained. “As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things. And so I thought, oh, this is interesting because how you can reconcile that?”
Affleck spoke about participation in the Lopez documentary The greatest love story has never been told And want to do it in an “honest way”.
“I love and support this person. I believe in it. They are great. I want people to see that,” he said. “And I think the thing I said in that documentary or the piece they used was where I said was, you don’t get married with a ship captain and then say,” Well, I don’t like to go into the water. ” You have to own what you managed to go into a relationship.
Affleck added: “It’s not like you can view that documentary and go:” Oh, now I understand the problems that these two had. “
Affleck was nervous his J.Lo -Citates would not be communicated properly
The GQ interview was done for two days. During the second sit-down, Affleck circled back on his comments about Lopez. He wanted to make sure that his comments made it “clear” that they are someone “for which I have a lot of respect.”
“I want to divide or explore the kind of differences in perspective that we have in terms of how a person feels comfortable to approach the border between the audience and private life. But I really hope that what you use does not suggest that I have a negativity or judgment or something else,” he said. “I have nothing but respect. I think there is a tendency to look at fracture and identifying root causes or something. But to be honest, as I said, the truth is much more everyday than people would probably believe or would be interesting.”
With Ititidian he meant: “There is no scandal, no soap, no intrigues.”
‘The truth is, if you talk to someone:’ Hey, what happened? “Well, there is none:” This is what happened. ” It’s just a story about people who try to find out their lives and relationships in a way we all do normally, “he said, adding that there was no big event.
“It’s real, it sounds more like a therapy session of the couples, which – after a while you would tune into someone else’s parent therapy,” he went on. “First, you start going, okay, this person clearly has these problems. They clearly have these problems.” And the reason I don’t want to share is just a bit embarrassing. “
Affleck it doesn’t matter if Paparazzi catches him that spilled coffee
Regarding his fame, the actor does not think that he presents ‘in a very careful way’. He knows that this can lead to viral moments.
“So I’m going to pick up the packages or deliveries and I don’t really care that people are there to take my photo. And some people are probably, I think you would call them smarter or strategic because they think, well:” I don’t want to be seen with a T-shirt or some drink. ” And I just think: oh f *** it, man, I could care, “he said. “I just want to get the coffee.”
This was Affleck’s ‘We have a problem’ -moment that Batman played
Affleck’s postmortem on his Batman era shows mixed emotions.
“I really think that I liked the idea and the ambition I had for it, that was the kind of older, broken, damaged Bruce Wayne. And it was something we really went for in the first film,” he said, but added how it started too old to a large part of the audience. “
“Even my own son was too scared at the time to watch the movie. And when I saw that I thought,” Oh shit, we have a problem. ” Then I think that you was when you had a filmmaker who wanted to go through that way and a studio who wanted to recapture all the younger audience with cross purposes, “he continued. “Then you have two entities, two people really want to do something else and that is a really bad recipe.”
Affleck, which is sober for more than five years, said filming Justice League was “a really unbearable experience.” He took some blame for that.
“I had my own shortcomings, significant shortcomings, in that process and at that time,” he said. “What I brought to work every day was a lot of accident. So I didn’t bring much positive energy to the comparison. I didn’t cause any problems, but I came in and I did my job and went home.”
Armageddon Don’t feel like it, but what does it matter?
Affleck’s DVD commentary from the 1998 film went viral when he spoke about the ridiculous plot. He is correct on the back for what ‘can be’ at least Top five DVD comments of all time. “
Billy Bob Thornton helped Affleck to realize while photographing the Michael Bay film that it doesn’t have to be logical why oil areas went to space to save the world.
“I remember that Billy Bob had a long conversation about a scene in the Space Mission Control or whatever it was, and he said,” No, that’s okay, man. I can’t talk about it anymore.
Although he did not expect that the film would be ‘genius’, Affleck said that he was ‘a little surprised to discover that they were sometimes not so interested in being logical.’
Affleck said he’s not his Hunt character
The actor interacts with many people who ‘assume’ that he and BFF Matt Damon are the characters they played (and wrote) in their Oscar-winning film.
“Matt’s math skills, I am pretty sure, are far from genius level,” Affleck joked.
“I read a number of interviews from me then, and I think a bit: this is a person trying to use the longest words they know,” he said. “I tried to be like:” Look, I’m not stupid. Look, I’m smart. ” What is a shame because that energy of: ‘Look at me, look, I am this, look, I always have the opposite effect.
