For his season 2024-25 with Baylor, VJ Edgecombe was a consensus five-star recruit of high school. He comes from Glenn Head, New York, and went to Long Island Lutheran High School. Edgecombe had offers from various large basketball programs for college. However, he chose to come to Baylor and play for head coach Scott Drew. VJ Edgecombe is six feet five, 180 pounds and is considered one of the best athletes in this year’s design class.
As freshmen, he started all 33 games in which he played for Baylor in 2024-25. Edgecombe on average 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game. His assists and points per match were the second most for the bears this last season. The first-year shot (.340) percent from outside and (.436) percent from the field in 2024-25. That was enough for the 19-year-old to win Big 12 First-year student of the year.
Draft analysts have VJ Edgecombe as a projected top-five pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. He has the chance to be the highest tailored Baylor Bear in team history. That is currently in the hands of Ekpe Udoh, the sixth choice in the 2010 design by the Warriors. Edgecombe is one of the best two-way players in the design class 2025.
