The NBA needs a player who can wear the torch as the face of the NBA. Media personalities in the NBA have mentioned Anthony Edwards as the next face of the competition. Despite what people say, Edwards does not want to bear that burden.
Instead, Edwards said that Victor Wembanyama should be the face of the NBA. The former #1 general choice in 2024 is in his second season with San Antonio. Wembanyama is not a typical NBA athlete. His height, skill and athletics are unparalleled by anyone who is of his size. Moreover, Wembanyama draws international attention to the NBA. Anthony Edwards may not want to be the face of the competition, but he is somewhere nearby. For the first half of the 2024-25 season, Edwards had the fifth most sold sweater on NBA.com. Immediately behind him on the sixth was Victor Wembanyama. Despite how Edwards feels, he is one of the most popular players in the competition. He is not a 10th or 11th man in the rotation that could remain relatively unnoticed in public. The 23-year-old is one of the smartest young stars in the NBA.
