Angel Yin shoots 64 to take five-shot lead in Honda Lpga Thailand

Pattaya, Thailand-Angel Yin Birdied Three of her last four holes on the Voorste Nine to set up an 8-under 64 on Saturday to take a five-stroke lead to the last round of the Honda LPGA Thailand.

The American had a three-round total of 21-under 195 on the Pattaya Old Course of Siam Country Club.

Sponsor invited Akie Iwai from Japan, who led after the first two rounds, shot 71 and fell in the second place. She stumbled with her first bogey of the tournament on the ninth hole.

The event is the first stop of the Asian swing of the LPGA before the Tour moves to Singapore and China for the next two weeks.

The best finish of the 26-year-old Yin in four previous performances in LPGA Thailand was part of third place in 2021.

“I didn’t like the tee as well as the last two days, but I got away with some good lies and managed to take advantage of my chances,” said Yin, ranked no. 17.

The resident of California chases her second LPGA title after winning the Buick LPGA Shanghai in 2023. She is a two-time second place-on the Chevron Championship 2023 and the US Women’s Open 2019.

Local stars Moriya Jutanugarn and Jeeno Thitikul each placed a 69 to sit on 201, a stroke behind Iwai. Both want to improve their best home development results-Jutanugarn ended in 2018 for second place, while Thitikul was the only number two in 2021.
