Alstom has concluded a contract from the Moroccan National Railway Office (ONCF) to offer 18 Avelia Horizon very high -speed trains.
Financed by the French treasury, the deal is appreciated at € 781 million ($ 845 million).
The expansion of the high-speed rail network of Morocco, with the addition of the Avelia Horizon trains from Alstom, is expected to improve the connectivity for travelers between Tanger and Marrakech.
The double -deck trains are designed to work at speeds of more than 300 km/h, so that travel times are shortened and also minimizes the impact of the environment.
Avelia’s design includes compact electric cars and articulated cars on two levels, which offer operational flexibility and a better passenger experience.
This new fleet offers a more sustainable option for the rail infrastructure of Morocco, in accordance with global efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, according to the company.
It is claimed that the Avelia Horizon model offers lower operating costs due to the lower number of Bogies, which usually represents 30% of the maintenance costs.
Alstom has also stated that the train offers the highest seating capacity on the market and helps reduce the total ownership costs per seat.
In a separate development, Alstom has agreed to provide railway traffic control systems for the Poznan Freight Bypass under a contract with Krakowskie Zakłady Automatyki in Poland.
The project includes the delivery of railway traffic control devices at stations and the Poznan Franowo Local Control Center, as well as the reconstruction of devices in the Poznan IV Local Control Center.
Alstom also supplies new line devices and modernizes existing, including line block devices and equipment on railway crossings.
Last month Alstom signed a two-year contract with the Swedish state ownership SJ for the maintenance of night trains, which improved the presence in Northern Europe.
The agreement includes the maintenance of 75 carriages and 12 RC6 locomotives that maintain routes between Stockholm, Umea, Lulea and Narvik.
