Only one round remains on the US Open 2025, with the contenders now to a select number at the top of the rankings. Sam Burns has a one-shot lead over Adam Scott and JJ Spaun, and there are only seven players within five shots of the lead.

Sam Burns remained in it
Burns has five PGA Tour victories on his resume, but he has never been so close to a big championship. Burns actually only has one top 10 in the Majors in 20 earlier performances, and that was last year in Pinehurst, where he finished T9.
But a sizzling round of five-under 65 on Friday launched Burns in the conversation, and he hung along on Saturday and shot a Gutsy 69 to keep himself in the lead.
Adam Scott’s big chance
It is more 12 years since the big breakthrough of Adam Scott at the Masters 2013, and the 44-year-old is now in position to become the second oldest winner of the US open.

Arnold Palmer has the record for the biggest comeback ever to win the US Open after starting the final round of seven shots back in Cherry Hills in 1960. A victory of Scottie on Sunday would require a historical version. But we will never say when it comes to the world no. 1.

Only two big winners currently live in the top 11 on the Leaderboard: Scott (-3) and Scheffler (+4).
For everyone else, overcoming this week’s challenge at Oakmont would mark their first big title.
